About this course

This course will cover the essential information required for the effective management of asbestos in schools.

With practical advice on the management of asbestos remaining within schools and expected documentation enabling attendees to act as an asbestos authorising officer for the school.

Content includes:
Locations and type of regulations and types of asbestos containing material used in schools
HSE and DfE expectations, HCC policy and guidance
Asbestos management surveys – understanding your data
The importance of asbestos management plans
Permission to work process
Visual inspections
Incident management

  • be able to implement effective and practical management of asbestos in their workplace including the permission to work procedure, annual inspections and reporting asbestos related incidents.

  • understand their role and responsibilities in relation to managing asbestos where it remains in situ be aware of where to look for further information and advice;

  • be able to act as an authorising officer for the school and complete the permission to work log
