About this course

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people is one of the most important aspects of schools' work. One element of this is to carry out and record robust recruitment checks. Ofsted inspectors scrutinise the school's Single Central Record (SCR) during inspections. They are likely to be interested both in whether it is compliant with the requirements outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education, and in the school's culture and approach to maintaining it.

  • gain a better understanding of the requirements relating to the SCR

  • have the opportunity to share good practice

  • gain a better understanding of pre-appointment checks

  • have the opportunity to explore the issues pertinent to their own setting
